Everyone and their sister wants to feel good, have more energy, and be healthy. It's no secret that getting there can be tough at times. Some of the best advice we can give is that you need to develop a strategy. Before we go any further let's define what a strategy is. A strategy is a long term plan of action. In the Wikpedia it goes so far as to say a mediated plan. What that means is that you've got to put some thought into your plan in order to achieve your goals.

A strategy is a thought that you create that you believe you can stick to. It's like a driving force that keeps you on track to hit your goals. Here's where the problem comes in. Some people think that having a strategy is enough.

In most cases that's not going to cut it. You need the second half of the weight loss equation which is not only having a strategy, but to have tactics to go along with it. The question then becomes, what is a tactic?

Here's the answer. It's a maneuver or an action to get a results. You're strategy is going to be accomplished by implementing tactics over time to get you there. So how can you apply what we're talking about?

Let's start with your goal being to lose 30 pounds in 6 weeks. That means that you're going to want to lose 5 pounds per week, or just under a pound a day. One strategy might be to get some form of exercise to get there.

A couple tactics might be to get your gym clothes or walking clothes out before you go to bed, putting your shoes next to your bed so that when you wake up you can roll right out of bed, put on your shoes and walk out the door before you have a chance to think about it.

To make sure that you have the right foods you might actually make a shopping list. That would be a tactic. You could order your food online and do your grocery shopping that way. That way you would have less of a chance to actually buy things on impulse.

Another tactic might be to pack your lunch at night, preparing your meals in advance, so that you didn't get caught having to eat on the run and grab some fast food. One of the biggest things you can do is to get enough rest. Tivo your favorite shows, or do Netflix or something so that you can go to bed at a decent hour and not get stuck staying up late watching your favorite shows.

If you have a strategy, and a list of tactics you can use to handle situations that may sabotage your weight loss goals, then it's a lot easier to get to your goal weight than if you had not plan, strategy or tactics at all. The best thing about having these strategies and tactics is that it takes away from the mental side of having to worry about what you're going to eat, or how you're going to get to your goal. It's all part of the master plan. Not having to think about it and getting rid of those recurring thoughts and doubt while replacing them with positive, healthy habits is one of the most empowering, energizing things you can do for yourself. Plus it makes losing the weight a whole lot more fun for you and those around you!
